The 'boot-bag' - Mazda MX5 MK2 boot rack
We make a unique Mazda MX5 MK2 boot rack alternative the boot-bag. Boot-bag is a waterproof luggage bag that straps to the boot lid of your MX5 without a rack. Cars have evolved in many ways over the past 50 years yet, the boot rack has remained unchanged. All it allows you to do is fix a bag to the your car by first fixing the rack to the car, in 2008 we thought 'why not just fix the bag to the boot ?' and boot-bag was born. We have sold over 25,000 since then.
We manufacture two models both fit the MK2.

Revo-Rack Mazda MX5 MK2 Boot Rack from £269.95
Revo rack is a completely different, completely new type of Mazda MX5 Rack, only manufactured by us.
It eliminates the risk of paint damage, caused by steel clamps or straps on the boot/trunk lid edge/surface. Its universal design also allows it to fit any boot lid that takes the foot print of the rack, irrespective of size or shape. Revo Rack can be fitted in under a minute without any tools. With the Revo-Rack MX5 luggage rack no metal touches your Mazda only soft rubber vacuum cups these use the pressure of the atmosphere to secure the rack to your Mazda's boot.
With all the effort Mazda's engineers went to to remove weight and add lightness to the MX5 this rack follows that ethos weighing only 1.672k
The Rack Frame :
This MX5 boot rack is manufactured from 25mm/ 1" T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy ( it will never rust ) As a result the rack frame weighs only 1.672kg / 3.6lb perfect for todays aluminium and composite boot/trunk lids. The cross bars are machine welded in place to ensure consistency, the rack is powder coated black. The rack measures 900x420mm / 36"x17"
The Vacuum Cup Supports :
The rack is secured to your MX5's boot lid using three 115mm vacuum cups, rated as capable of holding an 18kg/40lb load each, technically the rack can hold 54kg.They are very very different to suction cups.
The vacuum cup technology that Revo-Rack uses has existed for over 40 years it was developed in the film industry in the late 1960's to hold film camera's to cars, and is still in use today. Vacuum cups employ the force of atmospheric pressure to grip a surface: When a vacuum exists between the cup and the surface on which it is attached, the weight of Earth's atmosphere holds the cup in place with incredible force. These are not suction cups that produce a vacuum as they pull away from the surface. Revo-Racks vacuum cups use a hand-actuated pump to efficiently remove air from between the rubber pad and the attaching surface thus creating a much more reliable hold. Because the full face of the pad is brought into contact with the boot lid, distortion is reduced, allowing the cup to be used with very little risk of damage.

The boot-bag sits on soft non slip matting to protect paintwork its 4mm thick and slightly bigger than the bag no metal hooks or clips to damage paint with this Mazda MX5 MK2 boot rack system.
boot-bag is supplied with 3 straps lay these out across your open boot.
Then place the boot-bag and matting onto the boot lid, the matting is slightly bigger than the bag. The bag has a zip on 3 sides thats covered by a flap held in place by velco make sure the logo is showing on the right. The side of the bag without the zip faces into the wind.
Then take the ends of the webbing and attach to the 6 ladder lock buckles on top of the bag. These are the same as you would find on a quality rucksack and once the webbing is tight it won't come loose. Detach the shoulder strap.
boot-bag is fully waterproof the two patches on top of the bag are sown then welded so no water can leak through the stitching.
Its even possible to open the boot with the bag attached. Boot-bag is fine on cars with a L shaped boot like this Honda just fill the boot before you lay the straps out.
