With all the effort Mazda went to, too reduce weight on the MK4 fitting an old fashioned stainless steel rack that immediately adds 5 kgs to the car seemed to be missing the point to us. Revo-Rack is a completely new type of luggage rack manufactured by us in the UK. It is made with 25mm T5 tubing this is an aluminium and magnesium alloy as such the rack is incredibly light at 1.67kg, and it will never rust. The rack is made by us in two finishes powder coated black or hand polished and anodised for a deep lasting shine.
With the very small panel gaps on the ND between the rear wings and boot lid typically 2-3mm and the 45 degree slope on the inside of the boot lip, fitting a traditional luggage rack with clamps or straps without damaging paintwork is almost impossible. The aluminium boot lid on the MK4 is also thin, soft and easy to dent. Revo-Rack attaches without tools in less than 90 seconds.
It uses vacuum cup technology developed by the film industry in the 1960's to hold cameras to cars to secure to your boot lid. These are very very different from suction cups each has a small hand activated pump where you physically pump the air out from the cup creating an incredibly strong fixing using only the pressure of the earths atmosphere. Each cup has an indicator so you can see if the cup is secure and a strong vacuum is present. The Revo-Rack spreads the load over 300cm2 a traditional luggage rack places the load over around 100cm2.
The rack uses three 115mm vacuum cups each capable of holding an 18kg load, in theory the rack could hold 54kg. The rack has been independently tested by TUV laboratory Italy part of the global TUV testing and certification business.The Revo-Rack was tested to ISO/PAS11154:2006 the internationally recognised test standard for car roof bars see ISO:11154. There is no international standard for luggage racks. We believe its the only convertible luggage rack for sale globally that has passed these safety and load tests. It also passed the European Directive for the General Safety 2002/95/CE. In short it won't fly off, ever.

The boot-bag sits on soft non slip matting to protect paintwork its 4mm thick and slightly bigger than the bag no metal hooks or clips to damage paint with this Mazda MX5 MK4 luggage rack system.
The soft fabric base of the boot-bag has no studs, or clips to cause damage to paintwork. With the addition of the soft mat there is zero risk of paint damage, 8 years of sales demonstrate this.
boot-bag is supplied with 3 straps lay these out across your open boot.
Then place the boot-bag and matting onto the boot lid, the matting is slightly bigger than the bag. The bag has a zip on 3 sides thats covered by a flap held in place by velco make sure the logo is showing on the right. The side of the bag without the zip faces into the wind.
Then take the ends of the webbing and attach to the 6 ladder lock buckles on top of the bag. These are the same as you would find on a quality rucksack and once the webbing is tight it won't come loose. Detach the shoulder strap.
boot-bag is fully waterproof the two patches on top of the bag are sown then welded so no water can leak through the stitching.
Its even possible to open the boot with the bag attached. Boot-bag is fine on cars with a L shaped boot like this Honda just fill the boot before you lay the straps out.
